Thank you for your interest in my stories. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I have in crafting them. I think you’d all agree that writers tend to write what they know about. And that’s why my first book, 7 Russell Hill Road takes place in a little enclave in Toronto, Canada, known as Forest Hill. No, I didn’t grow up there, but when I was a very impressionable thirteen-year-old, I went to live with a wonderful older couple, Mr. and Mrs. Himmel. That positive experience left its indelible mark, and so I developed the character of the patriarch in the book after Mr. Himmel in tribute. Two years ago I moved back into the neighbourhood, and after living out of a suitcase most of my life, I’m happy to say I’m finally home!

My second book, 49 Parkwood Avenue, also follows the same fictional family in contemporary times, but it was the time and place of the prologue that really spurred me on.  Although I don’t have any personal experience with the years of the Holocaust, many of my friends have. I wrote this in tribute to them and their families, but particularly in tribute to my girlfriend’s mother, Lorraine Rotter.

The third book, Hazel G came to fruition to pay homage to my Auntie Hazel. Its follow-up in the series, The Delamere Boys is also fiction, but it’s based on my remembrances that I hold close to my heart of a little boy (not so little anymore) whose name is Noah.

Currently, I’m putting the finishing touches on The Irish Nanny and yes, my great-grandad George was born five miles from the Irish Nanny’s hometown, so once again, my roots are showing up in yet another story!

Meanwhile, feel free to reach out with feedback — I’d appreciate hearing from you!

Thank you for supporting Sandra's writing journey
